Adam was the typical bachelor before meeting his now !ance Michelle. The only part of the kitchen he knew how to use was the microwave when heating up his favorite hot pocket or bagel bite. But that all changed when they moved in together and started cooking more often.
“I couldn’t believe how much fun we were having. And we discovered that we loved cooking even more when we had friends and family over to share with. Our only problem was that after putting in a long day at the office, neither of us had the time to go shopping. We were throwing a lot of stuff away when we did shop, because our schedules were unpredictable and things would sit around and go bad. We had great intentions, but couldn’t really time things right or plan in advance.” Adam said.
Michelle and Adam spent a year brainstorming how they could “take the shopping out of cooking” and get people like them exactly what they need to have a great supper without a lot of hassle or need to plan ahead. .
They’ve recently taken the plunge and are on a mission to help you get the most out of your supper experience.
Every person and every family ought to be able to enjoy a nutritious supper every night. The reality is that poverty in the US is on the rise and more and more people go hungry every night. In our hometown, New York City, the number of people locally who have had a hard time affording food has increased 60% since 2003. We think that’s shocking and that we need to do our part.
So for every What’s for Supp meal that goes out the door, we’ll match it with a donation of one meal to City Harvest, one of the largest food charities in New York City, which collects and redistributes 42 million pounds of food annually!
As we grow, we plan to work with local communities, nonpro !ts and governments to tackle the root causes of food insecurity. We hope that with every meal, our mission expands and grows to help ensure that all of our neighbors have access to quality, healthy food choices for themselves and their families.
